What is restart?

Restart is a program I started about five years ago as a personal challenge. After what I call "the season of gluttony" -- Thanksgiving through Christmas -- I use the turn of the new year In January as a time to commit myself to not eating "anything that has a face." For one month, that is what I do. It restarts my system and puts me back on the path to healthy eating. But you don't have to do it in January, you can restart4health at any time of the year!

My plan is simple and easy. All you have to do is commit yourself to 30 days of not eating meat.

I am not on a crusade against meat nor am I trying to encourage the world to become vegetarian. I am merely suggesting that people take a month "off" to restart their bodies. As a result, I would hope they gain the impetous to permanently change their lifestyles and eating habits.

For me, it isn't hard. I stopped eating pork in 1969, but chicken is often on my menu and I do enjoy a steak sometimes. Fish is my universal preference though and vegetables make up more than half of what's generally on my plate or in my bowl.

As a physician, I see what chronic disease is doing to America. It is absolutely a major health threat. And most of it goes back to the food we are eating. I believe we ate our way into ill health and we can eat our way back out again.

Please don't let your diet kill you.
